Figure 8 Dance Fitness is a dance workout class for the everyday woman through the art form of dance while developing a healthy lifestyle. Women are becoming more concerned with the “image” they present to the world. The unique quality that sets Figure 8 Dance Fitness apart from its competitors is we are changing lives through the art of dance both inward and outward.
Ms. Saudia Jenkins – President - Saudia Jenkins has been dancing since the tender age of three. Ms. Jenkins’s talent was recognized by the former Chair of Duke Ellington School of The Arts. This recognition was the catalyst tthat encouraged her parents to enroll her in the school’s Dance Ensemble. Ms. Jenkins was the youngest member ever to join the Dance Ensemble and as she matured in age, she quickly was recognized as a leading talent in the schools dance troop. As Ms. Jenkins approached high school, she later decided to attend Duke Ellington School of The Arts and in June 2004 she graduated. Ms. Jenkins has been blessed with the opportunity to perform at social gatherings and honorary ceremonies for former Washington DC mayors Marion Barry and Anthony Williams. Ms. Jenkins also performed for Debbie Allen’s original musical, “Brothers of The Knight,” at The John F. Kennedy Center, in addition to performances with The Dance Theatre of Harlem. Ms. Jenkins has also participated in international dance performances, specifically in Senegal, West Africa.
Ms. Jenkins’s background is in modern, contemporary, and classical dance. Ms. Jenkins attended University of Maryland Eastern Shore, with studies in mass communication, business, and dance. Before founding FIGURE 8 DANCE FITNESS, Ms. Jenkins was actively pursuing dance and fitness in Los Angeles and New York City
